Musings about RamCharger

Turn in your lease Just buy a 4 k used truck till RamCharger is available do u really need to drive the latest greatest fanciest truck till ram is available

I wonder if they are being silent because they don't actually know themselves when the release date is. They may have run into some issues and are working on fixes?

New Scout may beat Ramcharger to the market. I have reserved the extended range scout pick up as well

The scout is full EV though right? Unless you get that tiny little generator thing they are talking about? That, to me, is a disadvantage :(

It’s been worth the wait. Here’s a first look at the concepts that will usher in a new era for Scout Motors.
The two new Scout vehicles are designed and engineered in Michigan and will be manufactured in South Carolina. Buyers of both vehicles will get the option of fully electric models with up to 350 miles of range, or extended range variants projected to offer over 500 miles of range 2 thanks to a small internal combustion engine that acts as a generator for the electric drivetrain.

Bold and rugged in design, the new Scout® Traveler™ SUV and Scout® Terra™ truck honor the spirit of the originals. Both have body-on-frame construction and solid rear axles, and wear paint colors inspired by the first and last Scout vehicles to roll off the assembly line. The difference is that they are projected to do 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, made possible by an estimated nearly 1,000 lb.-ft. of torque.

Both vehicles will have over one foot of ground clearance and be specified with off-road-tuned suspension or air springs with active damping. (For even more capability in the dirt, you can fit tires going up to 35 inches.) And when the going gets tough, just hit the switches for the front sway bar disconnect and the front and rear mechanical locking differentials.

The new Scout vehicles will be multi-use tools that allow customers to accomplish many things. They are being designed for the makers, doers, and everyday explorers. The only question is: which one will suit you best?

The Terra™ truck

With a projected towing capacity of 10,000 pounds and payload of nearly 2,000 pounds, the Terra is a truck designed to work hard and play hard.3

It will be outfitted with a roomy five-foot-five-inch bed, a front-row bench seat, two 120V power outlets and one 240V power outlet. That makes it the perfect companion for camping trips and job sites, or running your home appliances during an outage. There will be an underbody spare tire carrier for sizes up to 33 inches, and you can choose an optional in-bed tire carrier for 35-inch all-terrain rubber.

The new Scout Terra takes cues from the original, with mechanical door handles, grab bars, and switches and dials to provide a hands-on user experience. The trim is smart and durable, right down to the sustainably sourced hemp wood highlights.

Pricing for the entry model Terra starts as low as $51,500 with available incentives. So get to the front of the queue: for a fully refundable $100 reservation fee, you can reserve your early access to a Scout Terra

The Ramcharger is the same. Full EV with the V6 Generator. We still don't know what they will use as a generator for the Scout. But tow rating is way down on the scout compared to the RamCharger.

The Terra with the Extended Range will only tow 5K. That's a deal breaker. Love everything else about it though.

Hi, I couldn't find where it says the extended range will only tow 5K see below from car and driver and from Scout website

This was from car and driver

Towing and Payload Capacity

The Scout Terra pickup truck is rated to tow up to 10,000 pounds, a full 3000 pounds more than its Traveler SUV sibling. The Terra’s 10,000-pound figure matches the electric Ford F-150 Lightning with the extended range battery and the Silverado EV RST (note: the Silverado 3WT is rated for 12,500) but falls a little short of the Rivian R1T’s11,000-pound max tow rating. Still, it’s plenty for most recreational toys and the occasional cargo trailer. Payload capacity stands at 2000 pounds for both models.

Take your stuff with you

The Scout Terra has a roomy 5.5-foot pickup bed, making it easy to transport everything from building and landscaping materials to bikes to camping gear. There are also two 120V power outlets and one 240V outlet—which you can use to power heavy-duty tools at a jobsite, or keep your home appliances running during an outage.

The anticipated towing capacity of over 10,000 pounds2, makes it easy to haul travel or flatbed trailers, boats, or other substantial loads. And the estimated payload is nearly 2,000 pounds2—more than enough for an extended camping trip.

Yeah.. If you watch this video from Jay Leno's garage.. the CEO of Scout Motors discusses the towing rating on the Tera with the Range Extender.

Ram is going to FAFO when this gets released before the RamCharger and everyone jumps in these instead of waiting for no apparent reason.
